The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, is set to celebrate his 10th coronation anniversary with a week-long cultural festival of global significance.
The anniversary titled “Ten Years of Aṣé: A Reign of Peace, Culture and Unity,” will take place from November 30 to December 7, 2025.
This was reportedly disclosed at a briefing held at the Ile Oodua Palace on Wednesday.
According to The Hope, the Ooni who was represented by his Queen, Olori Aderonke Ademiluyi Ogunwusi, his spokesperson Otunba Moses Olafare, and members of the 10th Anniversary Planning Committee, described the celebration as a global cultural homecoming.
Olafare said, “This is a festival that honours the enduring legacy of the Yoruba people, while positioning Ile-Ife as a beacon of African unity, history, and future aspirations.”
According to reports, the event will be graced by a wide array of global dignitaries, including African Heads of State, foremost traditional rulers, international scholars, cultural icons, diaspora leaders, and tourists from across the world.
The week-long festival aimed at deepening Pan-African bonds, preserving cultural values, and promoting youth economic empowerment, will feature a rich lineup of cultural and artistic events.
This event includes the Premiere of “The Journey to Ife: A Renewal of Culture; Yoruba Drama, Arts & Film Festival; Lineage Exhibition & Shrine Tours; Yoruba Food and Fashion Festival; Traditional Sports and Games Competitions; Royal Gala Night and Fireworks Display; Procession of the 401 Ifa Deities among others.”
A committee member, Mrs. Bonike Thomas-Ojo said, “This is not just a celebration of a decade on the throne, but a reflection of ten years of visionary leadership, global cultural advocacy, and impactful community service.”
According to reports, the entire celebration will be live-streamed globally, with open access to audiences around the world who are passionate about African history, culture, and innovation.
