A 16-year-old Nigerian teenager identified as Emmanuel Familola has drowned while swimming in Lough Swilly river in Ireland. Authorities recovered the body of the deceased during a search and rescue operation by emergency workers in the country.
According to reports from local media, the incident happened on Saturday, 10 May, after Emmanuel and two others experienced difficulties while swimming.
Following an alarm some eyewitnesses raised, authorities deployed a search party to the area of the incident. Unfortunately, they found the body of Emmanuel Familola between Ned’s Point and Fahan near Buncrana Community and deposited it in the Letterkenny General Hospital.
The report also noted that one of the teenagers managed to swim ashore while they found the other and took him to Letterkenny General Hospital in a critical condition.

A member of the Irish Parliament representing the Donegal Constituency, Padraig Mac Lochlainn, confirmed the death of the two teenagers. In a heartfelt message posted on his Facebook page, Lochlainn sympathized with the families of Emmanuel Familola and 18-year-old Matt Sibanda.
Additionally, he disclosed that an organizer had set up a GoFundMe account to assist with the funeral costs of the deceased teenagers. The donation page revealed that a registered charity organisation, Insight Inishowen, is currently soliciting contributions on behalf of the Buncrana community.
Furthermore, a message accompanying the donation clarified that the raised funds would be shared equally among the grieving families. The Charity also appealed to the public to support the families through the tough times.
As at the time of this report, a check on the GoFundMe account revealed that the Charity has raised a total of €42,665, exceeding the €40,000 target.
