35 states in Nigeria have reportedly set aside N214 billion in their 2025 budget for security and purchase of arms and equipment. According to reports, a breakdown of the budgets revealed that all the states approved the purchase of arms and equipment.
Abia state allocated N554.8 million for the purchase of security arms and equipment which will enhance the security of its residents. Also, Adamawa state allocated a larger sum of N3.82 billion for the protection of lives and properties in the state.
Other states also made allocations for security, including Edo with N349 million, Anambra with N2.73 million, and Bayelsa with N10.87 billion. Also, Amotekun, the regional security outfit received a significant portion of N1.79 billion, and Safe Corps with N459.62 million allocations.
The massive votes come following the recent increase In insecurity and kidnapping as citizens remain vulnerable to violence and insecurity. The increasing wave of kidnapping, robbery, and other violent acts in Nigeria compelled states to set up their safety measures.
