Senior Special Assistant for the president, on Public Affairs, Aliyu Audu, has tendered his resignation letter from his office today. In the one-page letter dated June 8, 2025, Audu appreciated President Tinubu for the opportunity to serve under him.
He also thanked the former special adviser on media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngrlale, for his support during his administration. According to him, the former special adviser’s recommendation led to his nomination and appointment in 2023.
Audu added in his letter that it has been an honor to contribute to the public communication efforts of the president’s administration. He concluded by praying for the leadership of the president and the progress of the nation.
The one-page letter was tendered through the office of the president’s chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila.

However, as part of his resignation announcement, and states that his resignation is not an act of rebellion but of conscience. He continued that he refused to serve as an instrument for establishing a one-party system in Nigeria.
Audu disclosed that it would be a betrayal of both divine favor and democratic principles if he were involved. The former special assistant on public affairs emphasized that true democracy thrives on healthy competition and political domination.
Audu discloses that silencing opposition parties through dominance of power is politically reckless and spiritually dangerous. Aliyu Audu added that suppressing opposition voices is not leadership but regression and deterioration.

He continued by calling for the country’s development through maturity to compete with vision and not only through uniformity. Audu also vowed to keep supporting the government, expressing his belief in successful economic reforms.
