Police launch probe over AAUA students missing for two weeks

Following the alleged missing of two students of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), Ondo State, the State Police Command has commenced an investigation into the matter.

The students reportedly include Andrel Eloho Okah, from the Department of History and International Studies, Faculty of Arts and John Friday Abba, from the Department of Economics, Faculty of Social Science are both in their second year.

According to The Hope, the spokesperson for the Command, DSP Ayanlade Olushola, when contacted said: “The case is under investigation.”

It was gathered that tension is mounting within the university community following the unexplained disappearance of the duo, who were said to be close friends.

Sources disclosed that the students were last seen over two weeks ago and all attempts to reach them via their mobile phones have been unsuccessful.

A classmate, identified as Ajibola, expressed concern over their prolonged absence from lectures and other academic engagements.

“It’s been over two weeks now and no one has seen or heard from them. We’ve tried reaching out through phone calls, spoken with their roommates and other friends, but nobody knows where they are,” he said.

At the time of filing this report, the university authorities are yet to issue an official statement on the incident.

Recently, the AAUA Students Union on Saturday 5th July, 2025, in a memorandum raised alarm over another missing student.

According to AAUASU, the student identified as Adebayo Temitope Susan is a 300-level student from the Department of Banking and Finance.

The Students’ Union is a body of intellectual and radical students, established with the cardinal purposes of championing the interests and welfare of the students, as well as protecting their rights within and outside the university community.

SUBJECT: MISSING ALERT!!!

Esteemed student populace, we regretfully write to notify you regarding the additional alert of another missing student of our community, whom is identified as Adebayo Temitope Susan, a 300L student from the Department of Banking and Finance.

It was gathered that she left home for class in the morning and later found her way to her departmental executive council’s meeting from where she departed having concluded the meeting, we have been in search of her since yesterday and up till now our efforts as resulted to futility.

While we sympathize with the students community for the daily occurrence of this misfortune, we call on the whole students to remain vigilant and as we navigate through this security challenge.

Moreover, in an approach to address this security plight the DPO of Akungba Police Branch as called for the national security conference tomorrow.
