The Kano state police command has apprehended 11 students of government boarding secondary school, Bichi, concerning the killing of two students.
The spokesperson of the command, Abdulahi Haruna, made this development known to newsmen on Thursday.
He noted that the students are undergoing questioning to determine their level of involvement in the incident.
He said, “Eleven students were arrested over the incident and the investigation is ongoing to discover their level of individual involvement”.
He added that the police will ensure they solve the student’s murder and punish those involved in the incident.
In view of this, the state commissioner for Education, Dr. Ali Haruna Makoda, via the ministry’s permanent secretary, Bashir Bappa Mohammad, also ordered a full invesinto the circumstances surrounding the death of the students.
Recall that, Kano government secondary school, Bichi lost two of its students to the cold hands of death with two currently hospitalized after they were assaulted by their seniors inside the hostel on July 14 around 11:30pm.
This incident was reported to the police on the 15th of July, by the school principal, Yusuf Ado Yakasai.
Yusuf told the police that some senior students reportedly lured four students into a hostel and assaulted them while accusing them of involving in unnatural offences.
The victims, Hamza Idris Tofawa (19) SS3B and Umar Yusuf Dungurawa (18) SS2B, were reportedly attacked by their colleagues using a local metal object known as “Gwale-Gwale”.
The victims were taken to Bichi General Hospital were Idris and Yusuf were confirmed dead, while the two other victims has been hospitalized.
