Troops of the Nigerian Army under Operation Hadin Kai have continued to sustain pressure on insurgent enclaves, recording major breakthroughs across multiple states including Yobe, Borno, Sokoto, Kebbi, Ondo, and Delta.

A credible military source who spoke with newsmen on Monday said the troops carried out coordinated operations that led to the neutralisation of terrorists, arrest of several suspects, rescue of victims and recovery of arms and logistics.

According to the source, the sustained tempo is part of efforts by the military to reinforce internal security and maintain public order.

In Yobe

In Yobe State, the source disclosed that troops of 120 Task Force Battalion in Katarko, Gujba Local Government Area, apprehended a suspected Nigerien terrorist while attempting to infiltrate a security perimeter.

“The suspect’s inability to speak any Nigerian language triggered further investigation into possible transnational terrorist ties,” he said.

Also in Borno, he revealed that two relatives of terrorists, an adult female and a child, voluntarily surrendered to troops of 202 Battalion in Bama, after reportedly escaping from the Churchur axis.

“Their surrender is a clear sign of the sustained pressure on insurgent hideouts and enclaves,” the source added.

Sokoto

In Sokoto State, the source noted that troops of 8 Division Garrison engaged armed elements in a fierce gun battle in Tsamaye and Mai Lalle, Sabon Birni Local Government Area, where two of the assailants were neutralised.

“Three AK-47 rifles and a motorcycle were recovered at the scene,” he added.

In Kebbi State, troops of 1 Battalion Rear intercepted a cattle rustling attempt in Sauna Village, Argungu Local Government Area.

“The rustlers fled, abandoning 251 cows. The animals were recovered and returned to their rightful owners,” the source stated.

In Ondo

In Ondo State, troops of 323 Artillery Regiment operating in Igbara-Oke, Ifedore Local Government Area, intercepted two suspected gunrunners who were attempting to purchase weapons.

“The suspects were working under the instruction of an inmate at the Kirikiri Correctional Facility in Lagos, who allegedly coordinated the illicit arms deal to aid criminal activities in Zamfara,” he said.

“In a related operation in Delta, troops discovered a tricycle loaded with about 200 litres of suspected illegally refined diesel along the Jeddo–Omadino axis in Warri South Local Government Area,” the source added.

Meanwhile, in a separate clearance operation, troops arrested seven suspects from a suspected IPOB/ESN hideout in Okpanam, Oshimili North Local Government Area.

“Recovered items included a motorcycle, four mobile phones and other logistics materials,” he said.

The source reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s commitment to national security, saying, “Our troops will continue to dominate the battle space. The tempo of operations will remain high until peace is restored across all troubled regions.”
