Civil defense arrests drug dealer, burglar in Kano raid

Two suspected criminals have been arrested by the Nigerian security and civil defence corps (NSCDC), for their involvement in drug-related activities. The arrest was confirmed in a statement by the Kano state command’s public relations officer, Ibrahim Abdullahi.

Abdullahi described the security operatives’ operation as a breakthrough in the fight against crime in the country. The first suspected drug dealer, Basiru Ahmed was arrested for possession of Indian hemp substances.

He was apprehended following credible intelligence reports and caught distributing the illegal substance within the community. Following his arrest, he has been transferred to the state command of NDLEA for further investigation and necessary legal action.

Another suspect, Mohammed Abbas, was arrested at Gurungawa Kumbotso LG area of the state, in a related development. The 22-year-old guy was nabbed for burgling residential homes and carting away Valuable properties worth millions of naira.

Abbas, who had been on the command watchlist for some time, was arrested during a patrol to reduce crime in the area. According to the operatives, the suspects will be charged in court after completing their investigation.

Meanwhile, the P.R.O. encourages residents to remain vigilant and continue providing relevant information to help curb criminal activities. In line with this, the agency remains committed to maintaining peace and security across all LGAs in the state.
