Abuja to London flight of the British Airways has denied boarding of 58 passengers due to the aircraft’s faulty door. Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) director, Michael Achimugu, confirmed the incident on his X handle today.

Achimugu, the director of public relations and consumer protection, noted that safety concerns require airlines to leave some seats vacant. He explained that 30 passengers accepted the hotel accommodation provided, while 28 passengers opted to return home.

He further advises passengers to locate the NCAA consumer protection officers to ensure that their right to care is protected. Achimugu disclosed that arrangements are being made for passengers affected to be airlifted tomorrow morning.

Flight ban lifted on Ibom Air passenger, Emmanson

Airline operators of Nigeria (AON) have lifted the flight ban on Ibom Air unruly passenger, Comfort Emmanson. The ban removal follows the intervention of the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo.

AON spokesperson, Obiora Okonkwo, stated that  the lifetime ban to fly on any aircraft belonging to AON has been appealed. He also calls on all concerned aviation agencies to start sensitising passengers on the dangers of unruly behaviour at airport terminals.

The aviation agency noted that unruly behaviour is a punishable offence with a fine, imprisonment or both. Assault, intimidation or threatening cabin crew members is highlighted as some of the unruly behaviour that is a danger to flight safety.

However, former vice president spokesperson, Laolu Akande, has slammed the FG for giving Kwam1 the ambassadorial title. Akande questioned the rapidity with which the music legend was honoured after breaking the rules at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.

Meanwhile, Emmanson’s lawyer, Adefunke Maria, has disclosed that her client has yet to decide whether to pursue legal action against the carrier.
