Nigerian chef, Hilda Baci, is set to attempt another daring world record, this time by cooking the largest pot of jollof rice ever made.
The culinary star, who first gained global fame in 2023 with her Guinness World Record-breaking cookathon, announced the fresh challenge in an Instagram post on Friday.
She revealed that the jollof rice will be prepared in a specially designed pot measuring six meters wide and six meters high.
“In 2023, the Hilda Baci cookathon took the world by storm. This year, it is Jollof, the heartbeat of West Africa,” she wrote.
“A taste that tells our story. It is more than cooking, it is a celebration of our food, our culture, our music, and us. We are making history again, and I want you to be there when it happens.”
According to her, the project has been two years in the making and will finally come to life on September 12, 2025, at Muri Okunola Park, Victoria Island, Lagos.
“Two years ago, I imagined the largest pot of Nigerian Jollof rice the world had ever seen. Today, with Gino, a brand we all grew up with, my dream is becoming a reality.
“Hi, I am Hilda Baci, and on September 12, 2025, I will be making the largest pot of Nigerian Jollof rice the world has ever seen in this six meters by six meters pot,” she declared.
Baci noted that the event would go beyond the record attempt, describing it as a cultural festival that would showcase Nigerian food, music, and community spirit.
The Akwa Ibom-born chef rose to prominence in May 2023 after she broke the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual, though her feat was later overtaken in November of the same year by Irish chef Alan Fisher.
