Borno State Police Command has evacuated the body of a yet-to-be-identified man discovered near a transformer in Borno State University, Maiduguri.

The State Police Command disclosed this in a press release by the State’s Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso, on Sunday 7th September, 2025.

According to the statement, the preliminary investigations revealed that the deceased was electrocuted in an attempt to vandalise electrical installations.

“The Command has since commenced a full investigation into the incident, while the body in collaboration with Borno State Fire Service has been evacuated to the hospital for proper medical procedures,” the state read in part.

The State’s Commissioner of Police, CP Naziru Abdulmajid, warned criminal actors to desist from such acts.

“Criminal elements must desist from vandalism and sabotage, as such endanger lives and compromise public safety.

“The Command reassures the good people of Borno State of its commitment to protecting lives and property and urges residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements around public infrastructure to the nearest police station. Emergency Contacts: 0806 807 5581, 0802 347 3293,” the statement read.
