The United Kingdom (UK) Metropolitan Police said it has arrested and charged a prime suspect, Andre Wright-Walters, in connection with the death of a 67-year-old Nigerian, James Gbadamosi, who succumbed to injuries after an assault in London.
According to a statement by the Met Police on Monday, Gbadamosi was attacked on August 24 on Balham High Road around 4 pm, and was later rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. He, however, died on September 5.
The police said Wright-Walters, 37, of Avery Hill, Greenwich, was initially arrested and charged with grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of a class A drug in August but was granted bail. He was rearrested on September 6 on suspicion of murder following Gbadamosi’s death.

A spokesperson said, “Andre Wright-Walters, 37 (05.02.1988), was charged on Sunday, September 7, and appeared at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 8 September.”
The statement added that a 30-year-old woman was also arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm and later re-arrested for conspiracy to commit murder. She has since been granted bail pending further enquiries.
The incident adds to the growing list of Nigerians who have lost their lives in the UK in violent circumstances, raising concerns about the safety of migrants.
In August, report said that, the death of 60-year-old Nkiru Chima, who was found stabbed in her Romford apartment. Similarly, a London court recently sentenced Spanish-Brazilian national, Marcus Monzo, to life imprisonment for the murder of 14-year-old British-Nigerian schoolboy, Daniel Anjorin.
