The Management of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, has banned all social activities beyond 6 pm on the campus. The ruling is contained in a statement signed by the Acting Public Relations Officer of the university, Inya Egwu.

According to the school management, the directive follows the unfortunate incident that happened in the school on September 12.

Subsequently, reports say that a popular businessman identified as Chiebonam Nweze was stabbed to death on Bonfire Night at the school.

Nweze was a guest during the fire night organised by the students’ association of the Department of Archaeology and Heritage Studies, UNN. Addressing the incident, the management disclosed that the gathering was hijacked by miscreants from a neighbouring community.

Thereafter, the management directed that all such activities should be held strictly during the daytime under the school security unit.

Nweze also known as Power Autos was reportedly killed Friday night during a camp night event organized by the school’s Arts Faculty.

Investigations revealed that the deceased from Lejja, Nsukka, was not an undergraduate of the school. An  undisclosed source explained that the conflict began when Power Autos’ GLK vehicle accidentally scratched another car.  It reportedly escalated but was quickly de-escalated by university security operatives,” the source said.

According to the informant, power autos alongside his friends were ambushed within the school premises by his former adversaries.  The source revealed that Nweze was stabbed and killed while trying to assess the situation.

Presently, four of the suspects have been apprehended while attempting to escape through one of the school gates.
