President Muhammadu Buhari has criticized the Academic Union, ASUU for its alleged unwillingness to call off the ongoing strike. The president wished the union will sympathize with the people and put an end to the strike as enough is enough. The president further admonished university lecturers not to hurt the next generation.

The president made this known at his residence in Daura, katsina state, during a courtesy visit paid to him by some governors of the APC, legislators, and political leaders.

In a statement issued by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, he said “We hope that ASUU will sympathize with the people on the prolonged strike. Truly, enough is enough for keeping students at home. Don’t hurt the next generation for goodness sake.”

The president has called on well-meaning Nigerians to intervene in persuading the lecturers in considering their stances.

He stated Nigerian universities students will be encounter the challenges of contending with others in a highly connected and technology-driven work space. According to him, keeping students at home only deprives them of time, skill and opportunities to be fitted on the global stage.
