Erstwhile Senator representing Kaduna Central district, Shehu Sani, has accused Governor Nasir El Rufai of contributing to insecurity in the state. Shehu Sani alleged that the Governor intends to distance himself from the situation with his memo to President Muhammadu Buhari about insecurity in Kaduna State.

Further, he added that the memo reflects the Governor’s failure, stating there’s nothing new about the letter. According to reports, Governor El Rufia informed the President about the terrorist’s plan to form a rebellious government and set up a base in Kaduna state.

However, Shehu Sani didn’t spare other governors within the embattled region. The erstwhile lawmaker faulted the Governors’ negligence in providing the needed support to confront the terrorists. He went on to criticize Governor El Rufai for failing to support security agencies in the state. He accused the Governor of not sticking to the trend of providing the needed logistics for security personnel.

Additionally, Shehu Sani alleged that the Governor hasn’t been proactive enough with his approach to the situation. He opined that the situation could have been different if the governor and his colleagues had supported security personnel with available resources.

The ex Legislator admitted that to some extent, the role of the Governors could be limited in terms of security. He acknowledged that Governor El Rufia isn’t in control of the Military and the Police. Still, Shehu Sani divulged that the Governor could use his influence to access them and give needed support.

Lastly, Shehu Sani urged Governor El Rufia to leverage the availability of security institutions in the state to tackle the situation. He added that the government must act swiftly to stop the terrorist from establishing their presence further in the state.
