Kogi gunmen Kill worshippers during church service

Two worshippers have reportedly been killed by gunmen during the attack on Kogi on Sunday. The attack occurred at a celestial Church of Christ at Felele, Lokoja, Kogi state.

According to an eyewitness, the gunmen entered the church during service and started shooting sporadically. It was learnt that two people died on the spot, while others were rushed to Lokoja Federal Medical Center.

Narrating the incident, the eyewitness said “When they entered, they started shooting at everyone outside the church. I went and hid inside a cassava fa,rm. What I saw yesterday was like an action film. Kogi is no longer safe.”

The incident was confirmed on Monday bthe y the state Police Public Relations Officer, William Ovye-Aya.

He said, “It was a distress call that the Divisional Police Officer of B Division, Felele, received that hoodlums invaded a Celestial Church behind the NNPC Mega Station and they began shooting. Two people were confirmed dead in a hospital, while three are receiving treatment.”

He further that “The Commissioner of Police has deployed our operatives and ordered the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of investigation to commence investigation to unravel the cause of the attack with a view to arresting the perpetrators.”
