The Nigeria Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi has decried the state of the Oshodi/ Apapa expressway.
He showed this displeasure when he toured some Federal Government roads in Lagos earlier this week with senior ministry staff and the Controller of Works, Lagos.
Umahi said, the huge refuse on the road and the general disservice and waste of government funds to spend billions on roads while the public treat it with such carelessness.
The minister noted that the mountain of refuse doting the highways he visited especially the Oshodi/ Apapa expressway which was filled with refuse when he paid an unscheduled visit to some highways in Lagos and Ogun State.
However, he agreed that go, governing Lagos may not be one of the easiest things he, further, frowned on what he called an eye sore of heaps of refuse-doting roads constructed with taxpayers’ money.
“Henceforth all Federal Government roads under my watch will be constructed with concrete which has a life span of 50 years, unlike the asphalt roads that barely last’s 5years” he stated.
The minister commented On the Lagos/ Ibadan expressway as he said the road will be completed next month.
