Fire outbreak destroys property worth millions in Lagos church

Fire outbreak had razed Lagos church, Household of David situated at Adeniyi Jones Street, Ikeja Lagos as they prepared for a 5-day crusade.

The fire outbreak which started in the early hours of Wednesday led to the loss of property worth millions of Naira.

The fire outbreak according to the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), was successfully put out.

The cause of the outbreak as of the filling of this report is yet unknown, but NEMA disclosed it was discovered by passers-by who drew the attention of the indoor workers who are preparing for the 5-day crusade of the ministry starting today.

Also, it was reported that no casualty or injury was recorded during the outbreak.

According to the statement by NEMA read: “A fire outbreak at Household of David Church located at Surulere Industrial Road, off Adeniyi Jones Ikeja Lagos occurrence has been successfully put out by responders.

“The fire which started at about 0011 hours at the rear of the church was not noticed by the church workers but by passersby who drew the attention of the indoor workers to the incident.

“No one sustained injury or casualty recorded.

“The church had organised a 5-day crusade starting from this evening by 1700 and ending on the 4th of February, 2024.

“The premises were said to have been leased, insured, and hired by the Church.

“It was found out that due to the expected turnout of congregants for the crusade, the Church workers had been trained by the Fire Service to prepare for any eventualities.

“Agencies on the ground are NEMA, Lagos State Building Control Agency, Lagos Emergency Management Agency, State Fire Service and the Police.”
