IMO patrol blast killed two Security Operatives

Unknown gunmen has killed two policemen along Garki Road in Okigwe, Imo State. The unknown gunmen were said to have attacked the patrol vehicle of the policemen and engaged the officers in a fierce gun duel.

The personnel of the MOPOL 18, Owerri on Saturday tasted horrific death while on patrol duty due to an early hour destruction by some unknown individuals on the day.

 

It was reported that the suspected evil perpetrators are members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) in collaboration with an Armed affiliate Eastern Security Network (ESN) were reported to be involved in setting the patrol vehicle ablaze through the use of dynamite in a protracted gun battle.

 

It was learned in the process, that two officers were killed while four others sustained multiple injuries.

 

in a statement that confirmed the event, Henry Okoye the Imo Police spokesman said, the action that led to the gruesome murder of personnel of Mopol 18, Owerri has been condemned by the State Commissioner of Police Aboki Danjuma who said the suspected gunmen who are alleged to be members of the Proscribe Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and it’s armed affiliate Eastern Security Network (ESN) were lead to this murder and will be dealt with in accordance to the Law.

 

“The officers were ambushed in the early hours of today, 23/03/2024 while on patrol duties along old Gariki Road Okigwe by the disgruntled elements who threw dynamite on the officer’s patrol vehicle and engaged them in a protracted gunfight. In the process, two officers paid the ultimate price while four others survived the attack.”

 

Further at the scene of the event the commissioner and Commander  Mopol 18 and 64, led an immediate Command’s Special Tactical Unit to the crime scene for on-the-spot assessment, with a task to synergy with other security agencies and hunt down the hoodlums responsible for the attack.
