More than 45,000 applicants participated in the Computer-based Aptitude Test for recruitment into the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) on Saturday.

The NNPCL confirmed in a Dec. 7 statement that approximately 45,689 applicants participated in its Computer-based test. According to the company, the test was held at various centers across the country. Notably, it represented the second stage of the recruitment process.

Earlier in July, the company announced plans to add new employees to its workforce. At the time, NNPC spokesperson Olufemi Soneye explained that recruitment would be for several positions across various departments.

Meanwhile, the announcement was trailed with controversies, including rumored sales of employment slots later debunked by the company.

However, NNPCL revealed in its latest statement that it is committed to ensuring smoothness and transparency in the process. The Group CEO, Mr. Mele Kyari emphasized that the company will only consider the most qualified candidates for employment.

“The GCEO reiterated that only the most qualified candidates among the 45,689 applicants will be selected for employment.”
