An Edo-based Court has cleared Aisha Suleiman falsely accused of killing five boys with pepper soup after investigations revealed that the victims died from generator fumes.
According to ITV, the court discharged Suleiman noting that she has no case to answer concerning the victims’ death. The court’s decision follows an investigation revealing that the victims’ cause of death was carbon monoxide poisoning from generator fumes.
Suleiman’s discharge comes roughly six months after her picture went viral on social media for allegedly poisoning his ex-boyfriend and his four friends with pepper soup.
Suleiman revealed in a recent interview that she was not in the area on the day of the incident. She added that she has also stopped visiting the house since she broke up with him following his father’s orders.
However, she disclosed that one of her late ex-boyfriend’s friends posted her picture online declaring her wanted with a 500,000 Naira reward. She furthered that the friend was also the first person to level the untrue accusation against her.
Following the accusations, Suleiman revealed that she was almost lynched and set ablaze by enraged community members. However, authorities intervened on time to save her and subsequently charged her to court.
Counsel to the accused, Ibude Osamwonyi remarked that Suleiman’s file indicated that there was nothing connecting her to the incident. He added that one of the victims’ father also confirmed that his client never came to the house that day.
Meanwhile, Suleiman’s family has threatened to take legal actions against the accuser who first made the allegations.
