The Senator representing Benue South senatorial district Abba Moro has condemned the burning down of school buildings by hoodlums in Benue state. Morro made this known during a visit to Okpoga, Okpokwu local government where some unknown gunmen burnt schools.

While assessing the ruins, expressed his displeasure at the situation. Moro advised the people to safeguard public properties in their domain while promising to rebuild the damaged school buildings.

Also, he appealed to the residents to stay calm, allow government agencies to properly investigate the attack, and bring the hoodlums to justice. The lawmaker lashed out at the attackers, expressing his disappointment.

The senator also visited the Nigeria Police divisional headquarters in Okpoga, where he applauded the police for maintaining law and order in the land. Similarly, the lawmaker bemoaned the state of the facility, promising to renovate the building to enhance security in the state.

Recall that some days ago, hoodlums burned down schools like Central UBE Secondary School, Ugwu-Okpoga, and Junior Secondary School, Abossa. According to one of the residents, the attackers may be out to settle political scores as the incident marks the second time in a short while.

Earlier this year, armed herdsmen also set ablaze houses, schools, and markets in the Guma local government of Benue. Reports indicated that the incident led to the shutdown of 90 percent of schools in the area.

Likewise, the incessant instability in the area made many children orphans and a handful of women widows.
