Nigerian singer, Habeeb Okikiola Olalomi, popularly known as Portable has turned himself in to the police today.
According to reports, Portable surrendered to the Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) on Wednesday, less than 48 hours after being declared wanted by the police.
The singer who had previously branded himself as a mad patient in a video yesterday, begged for pardon in his altercation with police officers on duty.
Portable in this video, claimed he has never been a troublemaker or a thief, appealing to Nigerians to support him during this difficult time.
However, the Public Relations Officer of Lagos State Police, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed that the singer turned himself in at the SCID Yaba. He added that the Ogun State Command is taking steps to have him in their custody.
Recall that on Tuesday, Portable was declared wanted by the Ogun State Police Command following his assault on the Urban & Planning officers who were on duty on 5 February 2025.
It was reported that the officials from the Ogun State Planning and Development Permit Authority were conducting a routine inspection to identify illegal property at the Oke-Osa, Tigbo Ilu, Sango-Ota, in the Do-Odo/ Ota local Government Area.
During the exercise, the officials met an elderly man later identified as Portable’s father, at Odogwu Bar, a property linked to the singer.
Upon requesting the building’s approved plan, the singer’s father told them his son was not available.
Shortly after the exercise, the singer along with nine thugs arrived with firearms and other dangerous weapons, allegedly launching an attack on the unarmed officials.
Following the attack, the police arrested nine suspects linked to it, while Portable went into hiding.
The miscreants were charged with felony assault, obstruction, armed violence with cutlasses and guns, conduct likely to cause a breach of peace, and intent to kill.
However, the defendants who pleaded not guilty to the charges, have been granted N5 million bail each including sureties who must be licensed bondmen registered with the Ogun State Government.
Also, the case, presided over by Magistrate O.M Somefun, has been adjourned until 17 March 2025 for a hearing.
