The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has ordered the immediate posting of 25 senior officers in a move aimed at repositioning the Nigeria Police Force for improved service delivery.
The deployment includes seven Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs) to key strategic positions and 18 Commissioners of Police (CPs) assigned to AIG-designated roles, pending approval from the Police Service Commission (PSC).
According to a statement released by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the IGP emphasized that the redeployment aligns with efforts to strengthen operational effectiveness and enhance the force’s capacity to address security challenges across the country.
The newly assigned AIGs include Margaret Ochalla, who will now head the FCID Annex in Lagos; Abayomi Peter Oladipo, assigned to Zone 13 in Ukpo; Fred Ekokotu, who will oversee Zone 11 in Osogbo; Iwo Nemi Edwin Osigboka, now in charge of the Border Patrol Force at Force Headquarters in Abuja; Garba Ahmed, who takes on the role of AIG for the Department of Training and Development (DTD) at Force Headquarters in Abuja; Salman Dogo, assigned to Zone 5 in Benin; and Kanayo Uzuegbu, who will be responsible for Zone 9 in Umuahia.
In addition to these postings, 18 Commissioners of Police have been deployed to various AIG-designated offices nationwide, pending PSC approval. Patrick Adedeji Atayero has been posted as the Commandant of the Police Academy in Kano, while Tolani Alausa will oversee Zone 16 in Yenagoa. Musibau Ajani has been assigned to Zone 17 in Akure, and Mobolaji Victor Olaiya will now serve as AIG in charge of the Department of ICT at Force Headquarters in Abuja.
Laolu Adegbite, MFR, has been posted to Interpol at Force Headquarters, while Clement Robert has been appointed as AIG overseeing Community Policing, Research, and Planning. Gyongon Augustine Grimah will take charge of Zone 10 in Sokoto, while Thomas Abraham Nabhon has been posted to the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA).
Other newly posted senior officers include Musa Auwal Mohammed, who will now head Zone 3 in Yola; Mohammed Shehu Dalijan, posted to the Counter-Terrorism Unit (CTU) at Force Headquarters in Abuja; Olatunji Disu, who will lead the Special Protection Unit (SPU) at Force Headquarters; and Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, who has been posted to Zone 12 in Bauchi.
Fasuba Akinyele will now oversee investments at Force Headquarters, while Musa Kareem will assume responsibility at the Force Headquarters Annex in Lagos. Chukwudi Chris Ariekpere has been deployed to the FCID Annex in Enugu, while Aliyu Abubakar Musa will head Zone 14 in Katsina. Godwin I. Eze has been assigned to the Directorate of Finance and Administration (DFA) at Force Headquarters, while Abel J. Zwalchir Miri has been appointed as AIG in charge of Communications at Force Headquarters.
According to the statement, the IGP charged all the newly posted officers to take on their responsibilities with dedication and a strong commitment to professionalism.
He further urged them to ensure strict supervision and diligence in the discharge of their duties, emphasizing that these deployments are an integral part of the ongoing police reform efforts.
“The Inspector-General of Police has charged all officers affected by these strategic postings to embrace their new responsibilities with utmost dedication and justify their confidence through exemplary service. The IGP urges the new senior officers to ensure strict supervision and diligence in the discharge of their lawful duties and further encourages them to key into the ongoing police reform” the statement said.
He expressed confidence that the new appointments will contribute significantly to national security and improved service delivery. The affected officers are expected to assume their new roles immediately.
“These deployments are integral to the ongoing revitalization of the Nigeria Police Force, and the IGP is confident that they will contribute significantly to enhanced security and improved service delivery across the nation”, the statement said further.
