The Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), Ondo State Command has uncovered an illegal crude oil reservoir in the state. The Spokesperson for the Command, Daniel Aidamenbor, stated that the reservoir was hidden in a forest in Ilaje local government.

The Spokesperson expressed that the oil was discovered through a joint operation with the Nigerian Army and TANITA Security service. Aidamenbor added that the reservoir was uncovered on Sunday with no arrests made as the suspects already fled the scene.

Meanwhile, the Ondo State Commandant, Oluyemi Ibiloye has warned those involved in illegal dealings to desist or face law consequences.

Furthermore, Ibiloye noted that the command is committed to protecting the country’s assets, especially in the solid minerals sector.

Meanwhile, the command on Sunday, arrested a man identified as Falade for saying he was a retired military officer which was untrue.

The State Commissioner of Police, Wilfred Afolabi, disclosed that the suspects have been prosecuted and have been remanded in custody. Falade and some of his followers had reportedly caused havoc in the local government area of Ondo state.

In addition, Afolabi noted that Falade who claimed to be a retired navy captain has been a terror in the Idogun community area. Falade has also been reportedly escalating tension whenever he was called to make peace in the community.

Afolabi says that the suspect and his followers also go around with fake passports and personnel to terrorize the community. The police boss noted that a riot broke out by his supporters after he was arrested and remanded in custody.

The commandant thereafter concluded his statement by advising the state residents to always employ lawful means to address challenges.
