Just In: Rivers sole administrator suspends SSG, other appointees

In a statement on Wednesday, the Sole Administrator of Rivers state, Retired Vice Admiral Inok-Ete Ibas announced the suspension of all political appointees and office holders in the state with immediate effect.

In the announcement made known by its chief of staff, Ibas noted that the decision was made under the power granted to him by President Bola Tinubu.

As revealed, those affected by the announcement are the Secretary to the Rivers State Government, the Chief of Staff, and  all commissioners. Others are chairpersons and members of boards, agencies, commissions, and parastatals, as well as all Special Advisers, Special Assistants, and Senior Special Assistants.

The statement also directed all suspended officials to hand over to the permanent secretaries in their respective monasteries, departments and agencies (MDAs). In addition, MDAs without permanent secretaries are to hand over to the most senior director or head of administration.
