A 45-year-old man, Joseph Bwire, has allegedly killed his paternal uncle, Zakaria Sande, 65 years old, in Busia District in Eastern Uganda. According to reports, Bwire and his uncle have been at loggerheads over a property belonging to the former’s late father.

In addition, the suspect had the intention to sell a piece of land and a near-completed house belonging to his father to acquire a motorcycle. However, Zakaria who’s an occupant of the house stopped him from selling the prosperity.

Hence, resulting in death threats from Bwire to his uncle. Furthermore, Zakaria some days back complained how Bwire threatened to kill him. According to a narration by a neighbor identified as Mr. Onyango, the victim already revealed how Bwire sharpened a knife and has been looking for how to kill him.

Due to that, the victim stayed away from home for about 2 days before he went back to prepare what to eat for dinner. While preparing the food within the house premises, the victim attacked and eventually killed him.

Confirming the incident, Busia District Police Commander, Ms Alice Kuka confirmed the death of the victim at Bulemo Village, Buwumba Parish, Dabani Sub County. She disclosed that the suspect stabbed Zakaria various times leading to his death before fleeing from the community.

Ms Kuka stated that Bwire stabbed his uncle deep into his chest, thighs, and stomach. Police reports included the discovery of a sharp, blood-stained knife at the scene of the attack.

The deceased remains have been conveyed to the Masafu Hospital Mortuary for autopsy. Meanwhile, disputes over properties are gradually becoming a trend in Uganda. A recent report pointed out the increasing land-grabbing issues in the country, calling for urgent attention.
