Defying a state-imposed curfew and a ban on public gatherings, Kogi Central Senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan was met with an outpouring of support from her constituents as she made a dramatic return to her hometown, Ihima, in Okehi Local Government Area.
Despite the state government’s restrictions, Afrocover, in a video obtained online, hundreds of enthusiastic supporters took to the streets on Tuesday to welcome the embattled senator with chants and cheers.

Holding a Nigerian flag aloft, the lawmaker danced joyfully as local music played in the background, reaffirming her commitment to her people.
“I am deeply grateful for this overwhelming show of love and support. Nothing will deter me from standing for justice and the sovereignty of our nation.
“This is my home, this is my town. Nobody can stop me from coming home. I am the daughter of the late Dr. Abdul Akpoti,” she declared.
Afrocover gathered that Akpoti-Uduagha return comes amid mounting political tension in Kogi State, where authorities have taken stringent measures to curb political activities linked to her.
The Chairman of Okehi Local Government Area, Hon. Amoka Monday, had earlier imposed an indefinite curfew, citing security concerns.
“The curfew, which takes immediate effect, restricts movement and public gatherings in designated areas. Anyone found loitering or assembling in restricted zones without prior clearance from the relevant authorities will be arrested and prosecuted,” his statement read.
Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan, who has been at the center of controversy in recent months, was suspended from the Senate for six months over alleged breaches of legislative rules.
Additionally, efforts to recall her from the Red Chamber are gaining momentum, further fueling the political drama surrounding her tenure.
However, she remains adamant that the moves against her are politically motivated.
“I have no doubt that this is an orchestrated attack to silence me for speaking out against powerful interests,” she stated, referring to her recent allegations of sexual harassment against Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
The Kogi State government and security agencies had earlier reinforced their stance against what they describe as unauthorized political gatherings.
Kogi State Commissioner of Police, Miller Dantawaye, reiterated the state’s position on Monday, urging Akpoti-Uduaghan to cancel the planned Sallah rally in Kogi Central Senatorial District.
