NAF appoints AC Ejodame as new spokesperson, redeploys AVM Akinboyewa

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has appointed Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame as its new spokesperson, following the redeployment of Air Vice Marshal Olusola Akinboyewa to the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) as the Director of Civil-Military Relations.

A statement issued on Thursday by NAF’s Deputy Director of Public Relations and Information, Group Captain Kabir Ali, confirmed the appointment, highlighting Ejodame’s extensive experience in logistics, strategic planning, and defence management.

“Ejodame is a member of the 45th Regular Course of the Nigerian Defence Academy,” the statement noted. “His appointment is expected to further enhance NAF’s public relations and strategic communication efforts, reinforcing the service’s commitment to professionalism and transparency.”

According to the statement, Ejodame, is a highly accomplished officer, who hold a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, a Master’s degree in Transport and Logistics, and a PhD in Information Systems and Management Studies from the University of Sheffield, United Kingdom.

Furthermore, he has undergone extensive military and strategic training, including logistics studies at the United Nations International Peace Support Operations Centre in Kenya and a supply chain optimization course under the Erasmus Intensive Programme in Portugal. He also completed training at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji, and the Air Force War College, Makurdi, where he emerged as the Best Graduating Participant.

“Air Commodore Ejodame is a seasoned officer with vast experience in logistics, strategic planning, and defence management. He is a member of the 45th Regular Course of the Nigerian Defence Academy. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Master’s degree in Transport and Logistics as well as a PhD in Information Systems and Management Studies from the University of Sheffield, United Kingdom”, the statement said.

Before his appointment, Ejodame served in key positions, including Directing Staff at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji, and the National Defence College, Abuja. He was also the pioneer Dean of the Faculty of Social and Management Sciences at the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT), Kaduna, and the institution’s Director of Procurement. His diplomatic experience includes serving as Nigeria’s Defence Adviser at the High Commission in Malaysia, where he was concurrently accredited to nine other countries, strengthening Nigeria’s defence ties in the region.

The newly appointed spokesperson is recognized as a scholar, researcher, and public relations professional, Ejodame is a member of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) and the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM). He is also a Fellow of the Air Force War College, the National Defence College, the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, and the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply Management of Nigeria.

“His appointment is expected to further enhance NAF’s public relations and strategic communication efforts, reinforcing the service’s commitment to professionalism and transparency”, the statement concluded.
