“Tinubu’s security system is dead on arrival” — Atiku blasts FG as Plateau bleeds again

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has once again berated the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over what he describes as a failing and ineffective security architecture, following fresh reports of killings in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State.

In a statement released via his official X handle (formerly Twitter) on Friday, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lamented the growing insecurity across the country, asserting that the Tinubu-led government has failed to stem the tide of violence that continues to claim innocent lives.

Atiku decried what he termed a “nationwide phenomenon” of wanton killings, many of which, according to him, no longer make it to the headlines. He noted with concern that Nigerians are gradually being forced to accept such tragic events as part of everyday life.

“The failure of Bola Tinubu’s security architecture has now become an endemic nationwide phenomenon with repeated killings, more of which do not even make the headlines,” Atiku stated.

He extended his condolences to the bereaved families and the entire community of Bokkos LGA in Plateau State, where the latest spate of violence was recorded. While specific casualty figures were not disclosed in his statement, previous attacks in the region have seen dozens killed and displaced, often sparking nationwide outrage.

“I again offer my condolences to the bereaved communities of Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State and the affected families,” he said.

The former Vice President did not mince words in his criticism of the current security strategy and called for a complete overhaul.

“I wish to restate my counsel to the Tinubu-led Federal Government to reconfigure its security architecture to meet the needs of protecting the lives and properties of our people,” Atiku added.
