President Bola Tinubu has dismissed circulating claims of unequal representation in federal political appointments.

The Director, Information and Public Relations for the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Segun Imohiosen disclosed this in a statement on Friday. This was in response to recent spreading allegations of bias in appointments by the President.

Recall that earlier this week, Senator Ali Ndume during a television interview accused Tinubu of lopsided appointments in favor of the Southwest geo-political zone. The All Progressive Congress (APC) senator for Borno South described the political appointments as non-inclusive.

Further, Ndume noted that the situation is contrary to the “Renewed Hope Agenda” of the president. He also criticized Tinubu for allegedly violating the federal character principle in his appointments.

Meanwhile, Former Governor of Kaduna, Nasir el-Rufai hinted at a similar claim during an interview a few weeks ago. The former APC member alleged that some politicians paid their way into becoming ministers.

As a result, these allegations have raised concerns among Nigerians about the principles and integrity of the Tinubu-led administration.

However, the federal government denied the allegations of partiality, noting that all appointments are made in strict adherence to the federal character principle. Imohiosen assured that the current administration is committed to the principles of fairness, equity, and national unity.

According to the statement, Tinubu is dedicated to ensuring the equal representation of all regions and demographics in his cabinet. Also, the government remains committed to creating a thriving and inclusive Nigeria that aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda.

In addition, the spokesperson urged Nigerians to ignore baseless speculations and rely only on official government sources for factual information.
