The Lagos State Environmental Task Force officials have arrested a driver caught dumping refuse along the Lekki-Epe Expressway.

This development was made known by the Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab through a post made on his official X page.

The Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources noted that the driver was caught red-handed and immediately arrested by the task force officials. The vehicle used for the illegal dumping was also seized by the taskforce officials.

He said, “This vehicle was intercepted along the Lekki-Epe Expressway while its driver was caught in the act of illegally dumping refuse on the highway. The driver has been arrested, the vehicle seized, and he will be arraigned in court immediately.”

The commissioner has also issued a note of warning to the residents of Lagos state on the danger of messing with the environment and public health. He added that Lagos state would not condone any form of act that will endanger the health of its citizens.

“Let this serve as a clear warning: Lagos State will not tolerate acts that endanger our environment and public health. Enforcement is active, and violators will be held fully accountable.

Wahab also stressed the need to have a clean environment and adopt a responsible waste disposal method.

“A Cleaner Lagos begins with responsible behavior.”

Over time, the Lagos State Environmental Task Force has continually worked to ensure that Lagosians enjoy a conducive environment under the #cleanerlagos initiative. Just last week, the task force shut down major markets including mile 12 over environmental infractions.
