Ekiti State detectives have arrested two suspects, Adesanmi Sunday and Akinola Olugbenga Olaolu, for allegedly running a fake study centre of Kwara State University, Malete, in Ado-Ekiti.

According to The Hope, the State’s Commissioner of Police, Joseph Eribo, disclosed this during a press briefing at the Command’s Headquarters in the state capital.

Eribo noted that the illegal operation was uncovered following credible intelligence received on February 18, 2025.

He further said that the syndicate reportedly issued counterfeit Bachelor’s and Master’s degree certificates to unsuspecting individuals.

The Kwara State University has since disassociated itself from the fraudulent centre.

The suspects were arraigned in court on April 11, 2025, and are facing prosecution.

Meanwhile, the Ekiti police further arrested two students for allegedly raping a 15-year-old female student, Olatunde Mercy, in Ido-Ekiti on March 13, 2025.

The suspects include; Michael Omoyajowo (19) and Ajepe Olamilekan (17).

The suspects, who attend the same secondary school as the victim, reportedly lured her to the residence of one of the accused before committing the act.

Both have confessed and have been charged in court.

Also, two suspects were charged for the murder of a teenage girl on Ekiti Farm on February 9, 2025.

The tragic incident occurred in Emure-Ekiti where Moses Faith, a young girl, was allegedly murdered on her father’s farm.

According to her mother, Toyin Moses, the victim’s brother, Moses Testimony, witnessed the crime and fled to report it.

Following investigations and identification by the witness, suspects Mohammed Jamiu and Alaba Bashiru were arrested and later arraigned in court on February 18, 2025.
