African Democratic Congress (ADC), the party’s National Chairman, Ralph Nwosu, has stepped down, announcing former Senate President, David Mark, as the party’s interim national chairman.
Also announced was the appointment of former Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, as the new national secretary of the party.
Nwosu, who made the disclosure during a meeting of party stakeholders, said the leadership transition was part of a realignment aimed at repositioning the party for national relevance ahead of the next general election.
He explained that the journey toward adopting the new leadership structure “spanned over 18 months and involved 12 meetings of the National Executive Committee (NEC) and the National Working Committee (NWC) convened by the coalition’s leadership.”
Nwosu said that the political movement had consulted widely and was now open to “a formidable coalition.”
Present at the meeting were notable opposition figures including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, ex-Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, and other political leaders.
