The Social Democratic Party (SDP) 2023 presidential candidate, Adewole Adebayo, has revealed ambition to contest for the 2027 presidential candidate with assurance of defeating the current ruling president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

While revealing this on the Arise Television’s Morning Show programme on Friday, Adebayo noted the defection of politicians to the party but expressed confidence to win the SDP presidential candidate seat in 2027.

This followed the defection of former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, from the ruling APC to the SDP.

Adebayo affirmed that he is neither afraid nor feels threatened by people joining his party, adding that cowards who do such cannot become president.

He said, “Let us understand something. I don’t worry about that; everybody who is coming in knows I will run in 2027.

“Any coward who will feel threatened by people coming to his party cannot be president.”

Moreover, Adebayo expressed welcoming El-Rufai into the party because he is hardworking and a patriotic Nigerian citizen who is effective in areas where there are no effective people in government.

“The reason why I welcome El-Rufai to my party is that I see him as a patriotic Nigerian, hardworking, very effective in an area where we don’t have effective people in government, that’s all.” He stated.

Furthermore, Adewale asserted that President Tinubu will be removed from his position while SDP will provide the new president.

“Tinubu is going to be removed from power, that one is sure, and there would be an SDP president,” he said.
