Super Falcons captain, Rasheedat Ajibade, has expressed dissatisfaction over the delayed allowances and bonuses promised by the federal government. The Nigerian forward disclosed this on a popular show called “With Chude” by Chude Jideonwo.
She said the team is yet to receive the pledged $100,000 and other entitlements, despite promised assurances from designated agencies. According to her, the money has been allocated, but she insisted nothing had reached the Super Falcons team.
Ajibade stressed that the delay is affecting the players, thereby calling for relevant authorities to fulfill their promises to the team. As she stated, playing for the Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) is a tough moment in her career.
The 24-year-old revealed that she once played for FC Robo Queens in (NWFL for 10 years without receiving a salary. She came through the ranks of FC Robo Queens in Lagos before moving to Norway at age 17.

Talking about her background, Ajibade said she grew up in a compound of almost 100 people in the Mushin area of Lagos state. She disclosed that she earns a living by cleaning residential bathrooms and toilets for paying clients.
Previously, President Tinubu had promised the players in July 2024, following the team’s triumph in the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations. A sum of 100,000, along with other bonuses, was guaranteed as appreciation for the team’s achievement in the tournament.
The captain’s statement has prompted widespread criticism across social media, as Nigerians call on the government to fulfil its promises. As the controversy escalates, many are waiting to see if the authorities will risk deteriorating trust among their most celebrated sportswomen.
