In a bid to transform its educational sector, the Anambra state government has collaborated with Edves, a technological firm, EdTech. As part of the program, the state and its new partner will power 22 pilot smart schools with artificial intelligence (AI).

More so, 22 smart schools from every local government of the state will participate in the program. With the move, the state government under the leadership of Governor Chukwuma Soludo aims to position Anambra as a hub for digital learning excellence.

To achieve this goal, the governor seeks to incorporate artificial intelligence, data analytics, and project-based learning into the state’s educational setup. Edves Embracement of AI-centric personalized learning, adaptive lesson planning, and predictive analytics further distinguish the platform.

By that, Edves is working to ensure that every student on the platform enjoys an immersive learning experience, tailored instruction, and real-time progress tracking. The AI framework allows real-time assessment of various developments that empower instructors to advance their teaching and enable lawmakers to introduce data-driven decisions relating to education reform.

How FG is working with the NUC to include AI in universities curriculum

Meanwhile, the latest move by the Anambra state government coincides with the recent disclosure of FG’s plan to add 12 more courses to the curriculum of Nigeria’s universities.

More so, the FG, in conjunction with the National Universities Commission (NUC) is working to add courses like artificial intelligence, classic christian education, islamic economics and finance, sports management, telecommunication science, doctor of medical laboratory science, and many others.

Further, the program aids educators and students with tools that enhance inquiry-based learning and ensure efficient data management and inclusive education. According to the commission, the changes are long due as a host of universities and professional bodies demanded changes to the existing curriculum.

A recent report by the United Nations (UN) established that the AI global market is tipped to hit $4.8 trillion by 2033. The organization warned that the advancement of artificial intelligence will cut nearly half of the jobs present in the world today.
