Ghanaians have started protests against Nigerians for allegedly engaging in ritual killings and mass prostitution in their country. The protesters were seen in a viral video on Tuesday, displaying their placards with different inscriptions.
Notably, a picture of a man allegedly killed by a Nigerian in Accra was displayed by the demonstrators. Nigerians were accused of kidnapping individuals across the country for ritual purposes, raising concerns about security and moral decline.
One of the protesters in the video, a lady in her mid-30s, said Nigerians must go because of their lawlessness in the country. Another protester noted that Nigerians have dominated all their major markets and are committing different atrocities in the country.

The protester disclosed that Nigerians are in almost every village, whereas their laws forbid foreigners from interfering in core issues. A similar occurrence had occurred in 1983, when President Shehu Shagari ordered undocumented immigrants, mostly Ghanians, to leave the country.
The president declared that illegal immigrants should be tried, arrested and sent back to their homes if they refuse to leave. He stated that undocumented immigrants should not be warned under any circumstances after breaking the law.
This decision pioneered a checked bag called “Ghana must Go,” which has in turn become a symbol of intolerance and exclusion. However, the Ghanaian government has yet to respond to comment on its citizen’ protest against Nigerians returning to their country.
Reacting to this, the Nigerian government has promised to resolve the ongoing protest by Ghanians diplomatically. This was disclosed by the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kimienbi Ebienfa.
Nigeria and Ghana, colonised by Britain, had maintained cordial relationships and remained best of allies since colonialism.
