All Progressive Congress (APC) has given Martins Vincent Ofe, known as Very Dark Man (VDM) one week to apologize to the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio. The South-South zonal chapter of the party, on Sunday demanded an apology for derogatory remarks made by the social media influencer.
Also, the zonal chapter warned Very Dark Man not to target the Senate president again in the future. The demand was reportedly issued in a statement by the zonal organizing secretary of the party, Blessing Agbhomere.
According to report, Very Dark Man condemned the presence of the former Akwa Ibom governor at Pope Francis’s funeral. He claimed that Akpabio should have been visiting states facing violent crises in the country like, Benue and Kwara, among others.
Reacting to this, Agbhomere criticized the media influencer’s remarks, accusing him of slander, and blackmail disguised as activism. The APC zonal organizing secretary noted that the verbal attack against the president of the senate was unwarranted and unjustified.
He continued that Akpabio’s presence at the Pope’s funeral was from the president to represent Nigeria due to his strong catholic belief. Agbhomere expressed that Akpabio being a worthy ambassador to such an event is justified as a result of the senator’s flawless character.
The zonal organizing secretary therefore demanded that Very Dark Man refrain from damaging the senate president’s administration. More so, the APC leader also urged Nigerians to disregard VDM’s uninformed ranting as the Tinubu administration is working towards combating insecurity in the country.
Agbhomere emphasized that Tinubu has met with security chiefs to tackle insecurity upon his return from France and the United Kingdom. He continued that the president has also given the officer’s directives to adopt a new approach in securing and protecting Nigerians.
The secretary concluded by noting the complexity and difficulties in conquering and resolving insecurity in the country. However, he expressed that the president’s administration is committed to ensuring the peace and safety of Nigerians.
