APC youth knocks Ndume over criticism of Tinubu’s appointments, budgeting style

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Youth Network Worldwide has taken a swipe at Senator Ali Ndume over his recent comments alleging that President Bola Tinubu’s administration is favouring the Southwest in appointments and mismanaging borrowed funds.

The group, in a strongly worded statement on Thursday, described the lawmaker’s remarks as “reckless, misleading and disgraceful,” especially coming from a senior member of the ruling party.

Coordinator of the youth group, Abubakar Gidado, said Senator Ndume’s comments were not only factually incorrect but aimed at casting doubt on the integrity of the Tinubu-led government.

“We find Senator Ndume’s comments unfortunate and disgraceful, especially coming from someone who has benefited immensely from the same APC government. His remarks do not reflect the reality of the budgeting framework and reforms introduced by this administration,” Gidado said.

The group said President Tinubu’s approach to budgeting has been one of the most transparent in recent times, with clear efforts to reduce waste, prioritise capital projects and cut down recurrent expenditure.

“President Tinubu’s budgeting process has been one of the most transparent and reform-driven systems Nigeria has seen in recent times. From cutting down on waste to prioritising capital projects and reducing recurrent expenditure, the administration has shown a deep commitment to fiscal prudence — something Ndume conveniently ignores in his emotional outbursts,” he added.

Reacting to Ndume’s claim that the federal character principle has been violated, the APC Youth Network said appointments under President Tinubu have been spread across all regions.

“The president has appointed Nigerians from all regions in strategic positions across federal ministries, agencies and parastatals. If Ndume is still stuck in the past, he should bring himself up to speed with recent developments and stop misleading the public with outdated figures,” Gidado said.

The group also accused the Borno South senator of trying to gain public attention through divisive rhetoric.

“Ndume should focus more on his legislative duties instead of grandstanding on television. We will not allow political actors to distort the hard work and vision of this administration just to satisfy personal egos or secure media headlines,” the statement added.

The youth group urged President Tinubu to remain undistracted by voices they described as “baseless” and “unproductive.”

“The youth wing of our party and millions of Nigerians at home and abroad continue to trust in the capacity of this government to deliver on its promises,” Gidado concluded.
