Oyo state governor Seyi Makinde has demanded the resignation of PDP national chairman, Iyorchia Ayu. The governor made his demand known during the SouthWest PDP stakeholders meeting in Ibadan with Atiku Abubakar.
According to Makinde, the chairman needs to step down so that Southerners can feel fully included.
Recall that Makinde’s close ally, governor of River state Nyesom Wike had also been calling for the resignation of Ayu.
The division in the party after its presidential election flag bearer, Atiku Abubakar, won the presidential primaries.
Wike reportedly went irate when Atiku snubbed him and picked Benue state ifeanyi Okowa as his running mate.
However, in a move to resolve the party rivalry, Walid Jibrin from Nassarawa state resigned as the party BoT chairman. He was replaced with Wabara from Abia state.
Ayu further noted that members of the National Working Committee would visit Wike in Port Harcourt for reconciliation.
