A counter-report has hit the air space over the victory of popular musician, Bankole Wellington victory at the PDP primaries for Eti Osa Federal Constituency. The New report as confirmed on the returning officer sheet indicates that Banky W lost to his opponent, Aiboni Sam.

The result revealed that Banky W had just 7 votes, while his opponent came victorious with 23 votes. This new result is contradictory to the one that went viral in a video on Monday. According to the video, the Ebute-Meta crooner scored 28 votes against his opponent’s 3.

Therefore, the result has generated numerous reactions from different quarters, with many tagging it a slap on Nigeria’s democracy. The issue is expected to attract legal intervention. However, party leaders in the state have urged Mr. Wellington to remain calm while the party investigates the situation.

Further, Before the election on Monday, a delay manifested which is now a reference point for the acclaimed “irregularities”. Critics cited and fault the delay as the father of the turn of results. They also establish that the delay is substantial enough to tackle the credibility of the electoral process.

Meanwhile, Banky W while addressing the media on Monday conceded that the delay is to ensure a smooth process. He divulged that it was for the betterment of the party while assuring the media of his full faith in the process.

Banky W Quest into politics

Additionally, Banky W’s quest into politics has not been smooth as expected despite his popularity. In 2019, he contested for the House of Representatives under the umbrella of the Modern Democratic Party (MDP). Unfortunately, Banky W lost to Ibrahim Obanikoro of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

As of press time, the singer-turn politician is yet to give a statement regarding the issue. Rumors have it that Banky W is waiting for the verdict of the party before approaching the Judiciary.
