Court grants man N600,000 bail over N1.7 million alcohol theft

A Magistrate Court, based in Lagos State has granted N600,000 bail to a man, identified as Tewogbola Olawale who allegedly stole N1.7 million worth of alcohol.

Olawale was arraigned before Chief Magistrate P.B Nwaka. He allegedly stole alcohol at Agege Pen Cinema of Lagos State.

As reported, the defendant became indicted on two counts of charges, which include conspiracy and stealing.

Olawale pleaded not guilty to the leveled charges. Consequently, the court issued an N600,000 pronouncement as part of his bail conditions.

The Court further ruled that the defendant must also produce three sureties to produce the same amount each.

The charges read; “That you, Tewogbola Olawale, and others at large, sometime in October 2021 at Crysland Nigeria Limited, Pen Cinema, Agege area of Lagos State, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did conspire among yourselves to commit a felony, to wit: stealing, thereby committing an offense punishable under Section 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

“That you, Tewogbola Olawale, and others at large, on the same date, time, and place, in the aforesaid magisterial district, did steal pallets of Trophy Beer, valued at N1,700,000.00 property of Crysland Nigeria Limited. With this, you committed an offense punishable under Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.”

The court, however, adjourned the case till June 29.
