Amidst the shocking murder of Joy Adeyemi, a female student of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, who was allegedly stabbed to death by her boyfriend, the suspect, despite being wanted, was seen posting on his TikTok account.
The suspect was declared wanted through a poster issued by “Be Vigilant” in conjunction with “Make AAUASU Better”.
The poster showed a picture of a young man, whose name was not disclosed, with the caption, “WANTED. FACE OF THE KILLER He killed an Innocent hardworking girl JOY around medoline in AAUA and pls the killer is still on the run. He is wanted and if you have any information about him pls report!!! (sic).”
Afrocover’s findings revealed that the suspect posted a video on TikTok and later deleted all videos on his account on Sunday, 27 July 2025. The former video was posted on Friday, and the recent one on Sunday 27 July 2025.
The account owner has also changed his profile picture.
Reports revealed that the suspect is currently on the run, while police have reportedly arrested his mother as investigations continue.
According to the AAUA Students’ Union, the victim’s decomposing body was discovered in her apartment after neighbours perceived a foul odour and forcefully gained entry into the room.
The AAUASU confirmed the incident in a statement signed by the President Salami Akeem (Ologbon), stating, “We received the first shocking news of two students that were gruesomely murdered, having been kidnapped for days.
‘We were further bewildered with the news that the primary suspects of the crime are indigenes. The matter was taken up and the police were actively engaged in collaboration with important stakeholders within the Akungba community, hoping this unfortunate incident will not reoccur again.
“However, to our greatest surprise, we were rudely confronted with another terrible news of another student that was murdered by her boyfriend who also happened to be an indigene of the host community. From what we have been able to gather, it was discovered that the student was gruesomely murdered, stabbed to death and left to rot in his room by her boyfriend for more than three days.
“The discovery of the body came after the neighbors noticed strange odor ozzing from the room of the student which led them to breaking the door of the room and discovering the corpse of the lady that has already started to decompose. It has also been gathered that boyfriend is on the run. Even though the mother of the perpetrator has been arrested, the criminal remain at large,” the statement read in part.
The Union further issued an ultimatum demanding a halt to the gruesome and incessant killings among the student community in Akungba.
The National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS JCC, Ondo State Axis, in a statement on 26 July 2025, also condemned the incessant killings of students in AAUA, calling on the Ondo State Government and all security operatives to take countermeasures.
