Ebonyi state governor David Umayi, during a project inspection, asked soldiers to flog civil servants who arrived late. As seen in a video making rounds on social media, the governor supervised the beating of the civil servants by soldiers.

However, the action has generated a lot of controversies on social media.

Reacting to the governor’s his action on Twitter, a user identified as @Data Dude said, “I am from Ebonyi state and live in Abakaliki. The case of flogging Civil servants and construction workers in Ebonyi by Dave Umahi began years ago. He does it frequently without batting an eyelid.”

Also, another user identified as @Silas Obumneme Udenze said, “This is totally UNACCEPTABLE! You shouldn’t flog an employee no matter what. However, I believe the incidence happened at the Governor’s private university. The victims might not be civil servants.”
