The Edo State Internal Revenue Service (IRS) through its Executive Chairman, Barrister Oladele Bankole-Balogun has sought the support and partnership of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) in tackling tax evasion in the state.
He made this appeal on the 11th of February while leading the IRS team on a visit to the Benin Zonal Directorate of the Commission.
He said” Your organization is one of the highly respected organizations in the dispensation of justice and fairness. It is no coincidence that I’m here with my executive directors. We have a mandate to collect taxes for the state, whether personal or corporate. As we do that, we realize that there are those errant individuals or corporations who are doing far below what they should be doing. Some of them are in the realm of sabotage or financial crimes.”
Bankole-Balogun added that collaborating with the commission is a necessity that will ensure tax compliance in Edo state.
While responding to the IRS boss, the acting Zonal Director of the ACE 1, Effa Okim promises the corporation of the commission in achieving the mandate of the Edo State Internal Revenue Service. He added that the commission plays an important role in ensuring taxes are paid and tax evaders are brought to justice.
