EFCC fresh Lagos raid lands 120 suspected fraudsters in custody

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has apprehended 120 suspected internet fraudsters in Lagos State. 

According to a statement posted on EFCC’s official X page on Monday, the detained suspects comprised 95 males and 25 females. 

It noted that operatives of the Lagos Zonal Directorate 1 carried out the coordinated operation at various locations on Monday. 

The commission explained that the raid followed credible intelligence and thorough surveillance of the alleged involvement of the suspects. 

Additionally, the statement revealed that the commission recovered some items from the suspects after their arrests. The items included 26 cars, smartphones, expensive jewelry, laptops, and several suspicious documents. 

The statement further read that the suspects are currently in custody for further investigation. The anti-crime agency also assured that the suspects will be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of the investigation. 

Meanwhile, some Nigerians have commended the anti-corruption commission for its continuous efforts to clamp down on criminals in the country. A Facebook user identified as Peter Simeon urged Nigerians to support the agency in apprehending more ‘yahoo’ boys for their several criminal activities in society. 

Similarly, another Facebook user, Ahmad Abubakar Nadabo, encouraged the EFCC to keep up the good work in arresting fraudsters in the country. 

On the other hand, a lot of social media users have nudged the EFCC to intensify their efforts in fighting corruption in the country. An X user, “sir Charles”, commented that the EFCC should apply this enthusiasm in fighting corrupt politicians in the country. 

Another Facebook user, Frank Ogwu appealed to the commission to bring to book, Nigerian politicians involved misappropriation of public funds. He noted that the country is in dire need for revitalization, emphasizing that EFCC must remain steadfast in upholding its core values.
