The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested a total of 65 individuals suspected to be involved in internet-related fraud in coordinated operations carried out in Akwa Ibom and Edo States.

In a statement released on Thursday via the Commission’s official X handle, the EFCC confirmed that 18 young men were apprehended by operatives from the Uyo Zonal Command during a sting operation in parts of Ikot Ekpene, Nelson Mandela Street, Ikot-Udoro, and Tippa Road in Akwa Ibom State.

The suspects, aged between 19 and 28 years, were arrested based on actionable intelligence linking them to various forms of online fraud.
