The family of Julius, killed in a cult clash in Rivers State, has denied reports of their son being a cult member. They also demanded justice be served over the student’s death in Ignatius Aturu University of Education, Rumuolumeni, in Rivers state.
According to the deceased brother Ambrose Okpor, on Tuesday, his brother, Julius, had no link with the cut members. He recalled receiving the news from Julius’ friend, who notified him that his brother was in critical condition after being shot.
According to him, policemen and vigilantes were already at the scene, adding that his brother died immediately on the spot. Okpor also clarified that his late brother’s remains were deposited at the state hospital and not the state university hospital.

Following this, he called on security operatives to conduct a proper investigation and ensure accurate justice for the victim’s killers. Okpor continued that the family will be relentless until the unknown killers are apprehended.
He emphasized that his late brother, a 300-level student in computer science, had no bad records. The victim is also praised by his neighbours on Cevelia Street for being a responsible caretaker.
Previously, the police had reported that he was shot dead due to a cult clash around the university. The state police command, through its PRO and the police superintendent, Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the sad news on Saturday.
The police superintendent disclosed that the victim was reportedly traced to the Rumuolumeni area, in the host community, and shot dead. Iringe Koko assured that a full-scale investigation has started to apprehend those responsible for the student’s death.
