Convicted billionaire criminal, Chukuwudumeme Onwuamadike, known as Evans has disclosed to the court that he is now a teacher at Kirikiri. Evans also claimed that he obtained his diploma in Economics from the Yewa College of Education and is no longer a criminal.

The notorious kidnapper speaking in Lagos State High court, offers to surrender his properties as part of a plea bargain agreement. He pledged to forfeit his 14 brand new trucks to the Lagos government and the proceeds to be transferred to his victims.

According to Punch, this is the second time Evans has approached the court seeking a plea bargain for his involvement in various kidnappings. The report says that Evans approached Justice Adenike Coker of the Ilaje High Court to ask for a plea bargain on January 30, 2025.

Recall that Evans had 5 criminal cases across different high courts in Lagos states in which two resulted in conviction. Also, One of the convictions carries a life sentence while the other has a 14-year prison term.

Evans, who is represented by his lawyer, Etudo Emefo, expressed remorse for his actions in his application for a plea bargain. The Kingpin stated before Justice Sherifat Sonaike that he had changed while he was being held at Kirikiri Maximum Prison.

He continued by claiming that the Federal Government of Nigeria had given him a scholarship during his time in prison. Evans further pleaded to the Lagos State Government for mercy, stating that the scholarship would be useless without their forgiveness.

He added that practicing the new skill he acquired while in prison would be impossible and be a waste of resources. Evans among other inmates was reportedly offered the opportunity to further their education while in prison, which he accepted.

Additionally, the kidnapper gained admission to the National Open University of Nigeria Under the Federal Government Scholarship Scheme. Lastly, Justice Sonaike adjourned the case till April 17, 2025, for a report on the applications for plea bargains.
